I've almost always used PT-SAI. For a few years now.
MY favorite method so far is to sketch it on paper using a 0.3 mm Pacific Ark mechanical Pencil. I tend to use regular copier/printer paper. I'd have to say I'm not professional at all if you're looking at my tools.
After that I scan it into the computer and drawing my lineart over that using layers or the Multiply filter. Then stuff gets digital.
I found my old copy of Adobe cs4/Stonehenge on an old laptop I pulled the memory from. I never really used it and what I did know I seem to have forgotten.
It's difficult to get used to it. I'm fumbling around here wondering what kind of madmen can create such pretty art from this confusing program. So I figured I'd ask you guys.
What tools do you use? Programs and which version is best do you think? I'm looking to branch out myself. I know I'm limiting myself with just one program.
My friend told me that she sees me as more of a mixed media person. I used to line and colour my art on Photoshop CS5, but now I do my lines in pencil first and scan them before colouring on PS. I find that this gives a sketchier look, something I've never really been able to achieve on PS because I tend to be quite anal when it comes to digital work
I find it's more customizable to my tastes and it's incredibly powerful as a program, with pretty any tool that 95% of digital artists will ever need. The fact it's the industry standard as well helps for training to use it for a multitude of different situations and tasks.
I got no problem with other artists using what they want, after-all, Art is Art regardless of where it was created.
I personally think Pixlr is the best digital art media for someone at the ranking of where I sit. I'm not very good at digital art, maybe because of my unsteady hands, but anyone at my level of digital art will ultimately love Pixlr. It helps me improve at such art. With all of the many paint brushes you can use, it's very helpful and improves digital art greatly if you take your time to use.
I use Illustrator. It's the program I've used most at school so I'm just more used to it. However, I have also taken a Photoshop class, and I would like to explore that program more. I don't use it enough to be comfortable with it yet...but I totally want to change that!
Microsoft Paint. .__. In all seriousness, it's all I need at the moment. My drawings ain't that hard anyway, nor am I planning to make them insanely detailed...By now
Sai! It gives me a change to draw freely with a smooth lineart or a quick tool to fill in base colors. Not to mention the filters on it are a lot more effective then some of the ones in Photoshop.

So what works best for you and why?
