For some reason, GIMP has been acting up for me after I upgraded to 2.8. For one, it moved the "save" for png/psd/jpg/etc files to "export", which took me a good half hour to figure out. Now what I'm noticing is that whenever I "export" to a psd file, the size of the file drastically lowers. I start an image in Paint Tool SAI, save it as a PSD and move to GIMP for text layers and filters, which I then save as a PSD and put the finishing touches back in SAI. Now after I submit the image to dA, it seems like it takes longer for the deviation to show up in my gallery. I think the file sizes are the problem here, but I'm not sure. Is it a good thing or a bad thing?

I use GIMP and I never heard of that happening I know to save PNG and JPEG you have to export it. Saving pops up after it. Exporting is really GIMP finishing up (finalizing) the picture for you. It usually happens if there's seperate layers when your trying to save it. If you merge them, then export shouldn't pop up then. It's probably the format your saving in that's reducing the file size and causing longer loading times. Try exporting it in PNG format, saving it and see if it helps.
